SANTA CLARA, Calif. -- Dowslake Microsystems, a global provider of lower cost optical network solutions, today announced the general availability of its CWDM/DWDM multi-rate multi-service transmission subsystem based on its 19”1RU MiniSIS platform.

The MiniSIS CWDM/DWDM transmission subsystem consists of bidirectional transponders with full client and trunk optical interfaces covering complete CWDM or DWDM wavelengths. At a data rate of up to 2.5 Gigabit/s, MiniSIS CWDM/DWDM transimission subsystem supports a transmission distance without O-E-O regeneration of up to 600 km for DWDM, or up to 100 km for CWDM. They utilize the latest technology to achieve wavelength stability, transmission speed, and transmission distance at lower cost. Full 3R signal regeneration is performed to ensure the best transmission signal integrity.

User Specified Wavelengths: MiniSIS can host up to 4 transponder line-cards, providing 4-channel bi-directional transmission solution in a 1RU 19” rack.User can specify the exact wavelength for either CWDM or DWDM.

Software Configurable Services: User can select, through standard-based network management, any of the most commonly used communication and networking services such as: SONET/SDH (OC-3/STM-1, OC-12/STM-4, OC-48/STM-16), Gigabit Ethernet, or Fibre Channel (1 Gbps & 2 Gbps).

Performance Monitoring: A comprehensive set of performance monitoring and diagnosis features, including both trunk-side and client-side loop-back testing is incorporated. Together with MiniSIS standard-based management interfaces such as TL1 and SNMP, system level testing and maintenance are made easy.

Optional Protection: MiniSIS transmission subsystem offers optional on-board1+1 protection for each wavelengthenhancing optical network reliability.

The new multi-rate multi-service transponders, along with other MiniSIS plug-in cards and modules such as optical amplifiers, add/drop multiplexers/demultiplexers, and protection switches, offer powerful compact and lower cost solutions for optical networking. They enable wavelength services for communication and networking equipment such SONET/SDH, MSTP/MSSP, ATM, Gigabit Ethernet Switches, Fibre Channel switches, and Internet routers.
