There’s a lot of talk about Gigabit broadband rollouts and plans these days, but do consumers actually need such a fast service?
  Yes, such capacity is needed now to handle multiple bandwidth-hungry apps
  It is worth getting as soon as possible to be ready for demanding apps
  Not for a few years yet
  No one will need a Gigabit service in the next ten years
  No one will ever really need a Gigabit broadband connection
  What the heck is a Gigabit?

People used to say dialup was "enough"
If you build it, people will eventually come and use it... If no one is concerned with data caps, Gigabit services will feel like being able to water your lawn in California.
