Dept of Defense Selects Ixia

FT. HUACHUCA, Ariz. -- Ixia (Nasdaq: XXIA), a leading, global provider of IP network testing solutions, was selected by U. S. Department of Defense's DICE '04 (Defense Interoperability Communications Exercise) testing group for IPv6 network layer performance, conformance, and application testing.

Ixia is a primary supplier of test equipment and support for testing throughout the DICE '04 national test bed across the IPv6 network with equipment located in multiple government sites including Indian Head, MD (JITC-E), Ft. Huachuca, AZ (JITC-W), Quantico, VA, as well as the University of New Hampshire. In addition, Ixia was selected to be a node on the DICE '04 national IPv6 network with equipment connected from within Ixia headquarters in Calabasas, California.

"Ixia has provided us with a comprehensive solution that includes testing for protocols, applications and conformance to specifications, and I have been impressed both with the scope and capability of their testing solutions, and the high caliber of technical personnel they've dedicated to supporting this effort," said Major Roswell Dixon, United States Marine Corps and tactical networks test officer for the Joint Interoperability Testing Command. "The confidence to ultimately deploy IPv6 and test for interoperability on a national scale by the Department of Defense (DOD) will be directly due to the accomplishments of large equipment vendors and an IP Network test vendor like Ixia."

One of the DoD's primary concerns is the network performance impact as a variety of IPv6 applications are introduced into their network. Consequently, a systematic and repeatable test methodology is required for measuring the network performance impact to current and new applications. Ixia's IxChariot provides this capability, and Ixia successfully demonstrated IxChariot's capability which was able to generate and measure mixedIPv4/IPv6 stateful transport traffic across the DICE '04 network. With IxChariot, the DoD will have the capability to plan network capacity, identify network congestion, and evaluate the performance of new networking devices.

"Ixia is proud to have been selected by DICE for the verification of these military networks which require extremely rigorous and thorough testing prior to national deployment," said Alan Amrod, vice president of marketing for Ixia. "Ixia has the right solution and a dedicated team working diligently to support this groundbreaking effort throughout the country."
