IT managers are worried, they're unprepared for a disaster. They're right to worry too. But cloud, data center and managed services provider Expedient wants to provide information to help them get ready.

Nearly three quarters (71%) of respondents to a survey of IT managers say they "are not currently confident in their ability to restore data in case of an outage," Expedient says.

And when disaster strikes, damage lingers. Almost two thirds of respondents (60%) say their disaster recovery "planning and testing did not prove useful in their worst event." And more than a third of respondents (35%) "of companies admit to never fully recovering data lost through an outage."

The damage shows up in many places. Three working days of downtime typical after a disaster leads to lost employee productivity, delayed product and service development and delays getting products and services to market. Lost trust leads to loss of customer confidence and loyalty, lost customers and lost repeat business.

Expedient is looking to help its enterprise customers with a graphic showing the information they need to make better disaster recovery choices.

"A thorough disaster recovery plan can prevent unwanted expenses, delays in operations, and damage to company reputation while keeping your business running efficiently," Expedient says.
