2016: The State of Application Delivery

The "vast majority" of enterprises are moving to hybrid cloud for flexibility and potential cost savings, especially for small and midsized organizations, according to a recent study by F5 Networks.

F5 Networks Inc. (Nasdaq: FFIV) surveyed 3,000 customers about successful applications delivery, security, and how cloud, SDN and DevOps are changing IT.

F5 asked for feedback on 24 different cloud application services, and found every single responded used at least one; 60% used ten or more; and 30% used all 24, indicating the maturity and high penetration of cloud usage.

And hybrid clouds in particular are big. A whopping 81% of respondents say they plan to operate in a hybrid environment, and 20% plan to migrate over half their applications to the cloud.
