SANTA BARBARA, Calif. -- D2 Technologies, the market leader in embedded IP communications software platforms, today announced its IR.92 VoLTE software will be used to enable carrier-grade Voice- and SMS-over-LTE capability on the NVIDIA Icera family of LTE multimedia data modem chipsets for mobile devices. The companies also plan to collaborate on a reference design for RCS, Wi-Fi calling and IR.94 video calls that uses vPort 4G+’s advanced API for IMS features in conjunction with D2’s mCUE 4G mobile client software running on NVIDIA’s mobile application processors. “Our collaboration with NVIDIA represents the next step in the commercialization of IMS-based communications in the mobile industry,” said Doug Makishima, chief operating officer for D2 Technologies. “The NVIDIA chipset for tablets and handheld devices has been tested and validated for operation on the AT&T® 4G LTE network. We are pleased that an industry leader has selected our software platforms to quickly bring to market robust and optimized VoLTE and RCS enabled products.” In a separate release:BARCELONA, Spain and SANTA BARBARA, Calif. -- D2 Technologies, the market leader in embedded IP communications software platforms, today introduced a downloadable version of its mCUE 4G IMS software client for VoLTE and RCS/joyn at Mobile World Congress 2013 in Barcelona, Spain. D2 is also announcing the commercialization of vPort 4G+, the VoLTE engine module of mCUE 4G, for integration directly in LTE modem ICs. These two new offerings provide operators, OEMs and IC vendors with more options to speed deployment and optimize performance of RCS and VoLTE services. The downloadable mCUE 4G client allows operators to easily and efficiently launch IMS services to their installed base of subscribers. It includes many of the key features of the original native/embedded version, such as real-time IP voice and video communications, SMS over IP and RCS-e/joyn capabilities. It enables operators to offer legacy voice and SMS services over WiFi or 3G/4G mobile data connections and add rich IP communications services such as IM, file/media share, video call/share and capabilities exchange. In addition, D2 has commercialized the vPort 4G+ IMS stack and VoLTE engine of mCUE 4G as a separate software module for integration directly into LTE modem ICs to provide superior voice quality, battery life and system performance. The module also offers an advanced API for RCS services that allows third party RCS applications to leverage the modem-resident IMS stack and registration, avoiding complex and redundant integration issues. vPort 4G+ is being integrated and commercialized by two top tier IC vendors, with more to follow.
