WALTHAM, Mass. -- CyOptics Inc. (www.CyOptics.com) , a leading developer of Indium Phosphide based active optical components today announced the opening of its new state-of-the-art wafer fabrication facility. The company invested over $10 million to construct and equip the new facility that will produce high performance Indium Phosphide-based modulators, lasers and detectors packaged both as stand-alone devices and as hybrid super components. The new facility, located at the CyOptics Yokneam site, is the first production level Indium Phosphide Fab in Israel, and offers close to 11,000 square feet of class 100 and class 1000 clean rooms. One of the highlights of the new Fab is an Aixtron 2400G3 MOCVD reactor capable of growing eight 3" wafers in a single growth run, the equivalent of over 10,000 optical devices. This state-of-the-art reactor enables increased wafer uniformity and improved layer composition control and is expected to contribute to an increased wafer processing yield. Its unique growth process also offers an additional improvement in layer parameter control, thereby providing excellent capability to develop next generation products."This leading-edge Indium Phosphide facility greatly enhances our ability to provide next generation products which are essential for lowering optical system costs", said John Pilitsis, CyOptics chief executive officer. "CyOptics investment in this project reflects our commitment to provide our customers the most cost-effective, high-performance products, based on our foundation of manufacturing excellence."CyOptics Inc.
