The third picture, of people walking between the north and south halls ... you know what it reminds me of?  The last time I was in Orlando.  It was NFOEC 2003 -- the last independent NFOEC. Orlando looked very different at that show.

(I know I've posted this before on the boards, but it's still one of the best and worst trips I've ever taken with LR. That picture of Phil Harvey in the press room ... we weren't exaggerating anything. That's exactly how the press room looked and felt.)

I liked #11 (NTT"s booth space).

Boy, we did give that show a proper live burial didn't we?

One thing about trade shows that hasn't changed -- Internet access is still a 50/50 proposition. The CTIA folks provided us a nice set of connections for our show daily duties, but I heard the press room WiFi was dreadful.

Is connecting convention centers such a miserable business that no one has upgraded their equipment since the early 90s? Why do these Smart City folks have a stranglehold on most big meeting spaces? They're the worst.

Thanks RZ.  Glad you remember it too -- sometimes I have to convince myself that trip wasn't just some weird dream.  Very surreal (but the easiest conference I've ever had to cover...)

I have to correct myself -- I did go to Orlando once since then, for TelcoTV in 2009. I remember that show but had somehow convinced myself it had been in Vegas that year -- which goes to show how similiar all these cities are, when you're traveling to a conference.

wow - NFOEC....brings back memories.

craig - I actually saw my original post for that show on that thread. I guess the one thing that was still potent at the show was the beer :-)

I vividly remember the show - my old gang and I reminisce this trip every now and then and have a chuckle at what went wrong in the industry. well, at least we were not feedling too guilty by skipping the early morning talks!

- RZ, older but hopefully not wiser!
