Vendor claims certification important to carrier adoption

COLUMBIA, Md. -- Corvis Corporation (Nasdaq: CORV - News), a leading provider of intelligent optical networking solutions, today announced that it has achieved International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 9001:2000 certification.

"ISO certification, which is recognized throughout the world as a standard of quality excellence, is a requirement of many of our large global carriers. Certification was confirmed after an extensive audit by TUV America Inc., Management Service division (www.TUVamerica.com), an internationally recognized certification organization providing management system certification services as a leading ISO 9000 registrar in North America, Asia and Europe.

ISO 9001:2000 is an international standard adopted by more than 70 countries around the world. It specifies the requirements for the implementation of a process approach in developing, implementing and improving the effectiveness of a company's quality management system, and to enhance customer satisfaction by understanding and meeting customer requirements.
