France Telecom will test the CorWave LR along an 800 km terrestrial link

COLUMBIA, Md. -- Corvis Corporation (NASDAQ: CORV), a leading provider of intelligent optical networking solutions, today announced that France Telecom will field test Corvis’ innovative optical networking products. France Telecom R&D, the largest telecom R&D center in Europe, plans to conduct the field trial later this year.France Telecom R&D will test the CorWave LR along an 800 km terrestrial link using fiber installed in France Telecom’s network. The CorWave LR, which provides high capacity point-to-point transport over distances up to 2000 km, offers the industry’s highest spectral efficiency. The CorWave LR offers up to 1.6 Tb/s capacity in both the C-band and the L-band, for a total of up to 3.2 Tb/s capacity.“Our objectives are to evaluate technical innovations that can help increase our network capacity and decrease the overall cost of bandwidth,” said Patrick Vandamme, head of France Telecom R&D Optical Core Networks Laboratory. “Corvis’ product provides a promising solution, regarding its very efficient use of bandwidth.”Corvis Corp.
