Corrigent Demos IEEE 802.17 RPR
CHICAGO -- Corrigent Systems, a
leading provider of packet-ADM (Add Drop Multiplexer) for
next-generation transport networks, today announced that it will be
demonstrating Resilient Packet Ring (RPR) protection switching,
supporting the recently completed IEEE 802.17 standard. Corrigent's
RPR sub-50msec protection switching will be demonstrated over a 10Gbps
ring of its CM-100 Packet ADM as part of the Metro Ethernet Forum
(MEF) live multi-vendor interoperability showcase at SUPERCOMM 2004
This display is part of a larger demonstration by members of the MEF showing capabilities of the latest service provider equipment to support different aspects of Ethernet services delivery. Corrigent is supporting E-Line and E-LAN services as defined by the MEF and will show the ability to protect services from interruption in the event of physical disruption of the ring, in a manner compliant with the requirements outlined in the recently published MEF 2 technical specification: "Requirements and Framework for Ethernet Service Protection in Metro Ethernet Networks".
