Dr. Joseph Miller joins Corning from E.I. DuPont de Nemours, where he has served as chief technology officer and senior VP since 1994

CORNING, N.Y. -- Corning Incorporated (NYSE: GLW - news) today announced that Dr. Joseph A. Miller Jr. has been named senior vice president and chief technology officer. Dr. Miller will be responsible for leading and setting the strategic direction for the company's research and development efforts. Dr. Miller, 59, joins Corning from E.I. DuPont de Nemours, Inc., where he has served as chief technology officer and senior vice president since 1994. Prior experiences at DuPont include a number of varied leadership roles in research and development, manufacturing, business and marketing. In 1998, Dr. Miller was appointed by former President Clinton in to serve on the National Science Board - the board is responsible for overseeing the National Science Foundation. He has also been the chairman of the National Science Resources Board, facilitating and stimulating educational reform in grades K-12. Dr. Miller holds a doctorate in chemistry from Pennsylvania State University.Corning Inc.
