Congress Acts

12:15 PM -- In these parlous times, some brave patriots in Congress are finally addressing a matter of vital national import, according to this AP story on The New York Times Website:

A House subcommittee has approved legislation aimed at forcing college football to switch to a playoff system to determine a national champion...

But some lawmakers on the subcommittee said Congress has better things to do than legislating on college football.
Well, perhaps. But I really don't see what Congress can do about Tiger...

They can recognize that he didn't throw himself on a grenade in order to save his buddies.

You'll all be relieved to know that the bill has passed the subcommittee, so our Long National Nightmare may soon be at an end.

ESPN, America's favorite news source, reports that, in response to carping from un-American Socialist Nazis that this was somehow a waste of Congress's time...

The subcommittee chairman, Rep. Bobby Rush, an Illinois Democrat who co-sponsored the bill, said, "We can walk and chew gum at the same time."

An audacious claim, but I think the jury's still out on that.
