DULUTH, Ga. -- Concurrent (NASDAQ: CCUR), a worldwide leader of on-demand technology that is shaping the future of television, today announced the launch of their MediaHawk 4500 high density server for video-on-demand (VOD) applications. Available in Q3 of calendar year 2006, the MediaHawk 4500 sets new quality, reliability and performance standards for on-demand services.

Raising the bar in on-demand server performance, the MediaHawk 4500 will allow video service providers to store in excess of 20,000 hours of on-demand content and enable VOD ingest rates exceeding 2,500 hours per day, two key requirements in the rapidly expanding VOD environment. Stream density has been dramatically improved to 2,400 streams per 2RU enclosure, enabling both small and large scale deployments with minimized footprint and power consumption. The MediaHawk's highly scalable RAM cache approach and economical commercial hardware design allows service providers to employ scalable, pay-as-you-grow deployment models.

"Since introducing video-on-demand to the US market in 1998, Concurrent's expanding portfolio of MediaHawk products have successfully met the growing needs and ambitions of video service providers the world over. The MediaHawk 4500 takes VOD server capabilities to the next level, delivering significantly improved performance with the utmost in platform reliability, while meeting the stringent economic demands of our customers," said Gary Trimm, CEO of Concurrent.

Utilizing Concurrent's military grade RedHawk(R) real-time Linux operating system and commercial hardware, the MediaHawk 4500 delivers unprecedented reliability to Concurrent's customers. A resilient streaming strategy ensures high system uptime and unprecedented quality of service.

"Concurrent was the first VOD server company to offer independent scalability of ingest, streaming and storage," said Bob Chism, Concurrent's CTO. "The MediaHawk 4500 offers a fourth dimension of flexibility, enabling RAM cache to be scaled as needed. The result is an ideal combination of high performance and economic attractiveness." Chism added, "The MediaHawk 4500 platform is fully compatible with existing MediaHawk deployments, allowing Concurrent's existing customers to take advantage of this breakthrough technology without the need for forklift upgrades."
