BOEBLINGOEN, Germany -- Avago Technologies (Nasdaq: AVGO), a leading supplier of analog interface components for communications, industrial and consumer applications, announced its latest series of MicroPOD and MiniPOD solutions support 100GbE data transmission over a 550 meter link distance. Avago Technologies and Corning Incorporated (NYSE:GLW) have collaborated to provide long-reach, high-density embedded optical connectivity solutions targeting 100G interconnects for datacenter and enterprise network applications. The joint solutions enable datacenters and enterprise networks to transition from 10G to 100G Ethernet while supporting a 400m link distance per IEEE 10G Ethernet standards and a 550m link distance using Corning’s PretiumEDGE Cables with Corning ClearCurve OM4 bend-insensitive multimode optical fiber.

“As the data network infrastructure transitions to 100G data speeds to meet high bandwidth demands, the need for long-reach high-density 100G embedded optical connectivity is imperative for modern datacenters and enterprise networks,” said Philip Gadd, vice president and general manager of the Fiber Optics Product Division at Avago. “Together with Corning, we are now able to support a high-density 100G embedded optical link beyond 500 meters.”
