Uplinq À Go-Go: Qualcomm's Annual Developer Bash

SAN DIEGO -- Uplinq 2013 -- Qualcomm's annual developer bash ascended beyond the operating systems and apps that dominated discussions in years past.

This time around it was all about super-intensive, immersive services running on low-power devices. And, luckily, there was ample discussion on how to build networks that can support the services, too.

We left the show with the distinct feeling that tomorrow's children will be lazy and pale, but entertained in ways we've yet to imagine.

Click on the image below to see some of the new devices, services, and faces at Qualcomm Inc. (Nasdaq: QCOM)'s Uplinq.

Welcome to Sunny San Diego
San Diegoans said the weather was unseasonably hot, but it felt pretty perfect to the rest of us.

Mmm... bananas... One of my favorite pastimes from attending previvous conferences in San Diego was watching the Dole banana boat arrive. Good times...

Re: Wearable of choice BTW, how much do you think those smart watches and glasses will go for on e-bay next year?

Re: Wearable of choice Absolutely, Sarah. I'd go with the smart watch any time. Those Google glasses remind me of the always-annoying #-D glasses. Who needs that? I'd rather wear somerthing nerdy on my wrist than my face.

Wearable of choice Ok, what's your wearable of choice -- smart watch or Google Glasses? I gotta admit, even while I know how powerful Google Glasses might become, they look pretty nerdy. Doesn't matter that they're exclusive and expensive. They seem kind of d-baggy, like the guy who always wears a Bluetooth. Is that just me?

No Q on 5th I missed the famous Q on 5th party last night, so my apologies for the lack of party pics and Fray outtakes. But if you've seen one fire-eating contortionist, you've seen them all, right?!
