TranSwitch Targets DSLAMs

SHELTON, Conn. -- TranSwitch® Corporation (NASDAQ: TXCC), a leading provider of carrier-class semiconductor solutions for the converging voice, data and video network, today announced its Diplomat™-IP, a configurable packet processor for bandwidth intensive triple-play services. It is a feature-rich DSLAM controller optimized to transport Ethernet and ATM traffic for next generation IP-DSLAM equipment. The TR-101 standards-compliant device is a complete System-on- a-Chip (SoC) solution for DSLAM line cards.

“We expect broadband access OEMs seeking a low-cost, high-performance packet processor for high-density line cards to be attracted to the Diplomat-IP,” said Joe Byrne, senior analyst, The Linley Group, and author of A Guide to Access Processors. “Because the device has a hard-wired data path, it provides deterministic performance with low power dissipation. Low power enables designers to allocate more of their power budget to other components, providing design flexibility.”

“The broadband access market continues to be one of the fastest growing market segments; TranSwitch has been a player in this market since the mid-90s,” said Johnny Leung. “Diplomat-IP, the latest addition to our broadband product family, provides the optimal solution for the IP-DSLAM market.”
