Skorpios Technologies Inc. , the company that has attracted investment from both Ericsson AB (Nasdaq: ERIC) and Nokia Networks in recent months, has added to its Series B round to the tune of US$2 million, taking the total to $21 million. (See Skorpios Closes $19M Round for details of the initial tranche.)
The new money comes from T-Venture , the investment vehicle of German carrier Deutsche Telekom AG (NYSE: DT), which is excited by Skorpios's efforts to reduce the cost of photonic silicon by developing integrated opto-electronic modules and subsystems (using a process known as Composite-Semiconductor on Insulator, or C-SOI).
That same approach is what has also attracted money from Ericsson and NSN. (See NSN Makes Optical Advances and Ericsson, NSN Invest in Optical Startup.)
Skorpios is definitely on the rise!
