CAMARILLO, Calif. -- Semtech Corporation (SMTC), a leading supplier of analog and mixed-signal semiconductors, today announced the availability of the SMI10022, its multiplexer device supporting 100 Gbps ultra-long-haul network applications. The SMI10022 is specifically designed to support soft-decision forward error correction (FEC), which enables a significant improvement in optical transmission reach for ultra-long-haul and submarine optical links.

Designed in BiCMOS silicon germanium and utilizing custom state-of-the-art ceramic BGA (SMT) packaging technology, it provides high reliability, high performance and reduced cost.

“DP-QPSK is the industry’s technology of choice for 100G long-haul applications,” said Sameer Vuyyuru, Vice President and General Manager for Semtech’s Advanced Communications Product Group. “While early systems were largely based on hard-decision FEC, newer designs are leveraging the SMI10022’s ability to support the data rates required for soft-decision FEC, which enables increased transmission reach. Leveraging our proven high-speed design architecture, we continue to offer the industry’s most complete high performance product solutions for demanding 40 and 100 Gbps long-haul applications.”
