Freescale appoints Lisa Su, former vice president of semiconductor research and development at IBM, as chief technology officer

AUSTIN, Texas -- Freescale Semiconductor announced Dr. Lisa Su as its new senior vice president and chief technology officer (CTO). She will oversee Freescale’s global technical research and development activities. Su, former vice president of semiconductor research and development at IBM, is a respected industry leader with more than 13 years of experience in technology development, product management and strategic alliances.

“Lisa is a recognized industry expert with extensive semiconductor experience, and she brings a great deal of technical and business expertise to the Freescale team,” said Michel Mayer, Freescale chairman and chief executive officer. “She is the ideal leader for our technical innovation efforts.”

Prior to her role leading global semiconductor research and development for IBM, Dr. Su held various technical and business positions at IBM including vice president of technology development and alliances in the IBM Systems and Technology Group and director of the PowerPCTM product line.

Dr. Su has authored or co-authored more than 40 technical publications and co-authored a book chapter on next-generation consumer electronics. She was named in MIT Technology Review's Top 100 Young Innovators in 2002 and received the YWCA 2003 Outstanding Achievement Award for Business. She received bachelor’s, master’s and doctorate degrees in electrical engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
