Ethernity announced the availability of its ENETdsl software package and the addition of L3 functionality to its ENET3000 Access Flow Processor

LOD, Israel -- Ethernity Networks Ltd, a leading supplier of configurable Access Flow Processors, announced today the availability of its ENETdsl software package and the addition of L3 functionality to its ENET3000 Access Flow Processor.

Ethernity Networks’ ENETdsl Software and Configuration Utilities offer production quality DSL data path configuration software supporting all IP-DSLAM features including: dual mode Cell/Frame operation per port, EoA, IPoA, IPoE, PPP termination, filtering, double VLANs and MPLS, IGMP v3, hierarchical L2 and L3 forwarding, hierarchical classification and hierarchical QoS. Ethernity continually updates ENETdsl to reflect new protocols and enhancements to existing standards. Ethernity helps its customers minimize development time and costs by providing software and configuration utilities for data and control plane stacks.

Ethernity Networks’ ENET3000 Access Flow Processor is a configurable flow processor. Its decoding engine and packet editor are software configured to enable full interworking between various L2 and L3 protocols including: PPPoE, IPoATM, IPoE, AAL5, VLAN, QTAG, MPLS, and GFP. With the ENET3000, customers define new protocols and new interworking functions by configuring registers and tables through the API. In addition, the ENET3000 is equipped with a patent pending CAM-in-DDRÔ implementation supporting up to 64,000 entries, with configurable search keys and several different search tables used for classification, filtering, multicast groups, MPLS, VLAN, 5-tuple forwarding and Layer 2/Layer 3 addressing.

Ethernity’s ENET3000 solution contrasts with legacy network processors that require programming new Software routines to support new protocols or new forwarding, classification, rule or filtering schemes. The ENET3000 contrasts with legacy RISC based network processors that cannot meet the throughput required by triple play networks. Finally, it also contrasts with legacy packet processors by handling configurable framing and per flow classification, policing, scheduling, and packet editing.

Another characteristic of the ENET3000 setting it apart from standard network processors and offering important advantages in access equipment is its FPGA implementation. By offering the ENET3000 Access Flow Processor solution in an FPGA, Ethernity offers the access equipment designer a number of advantages associated with FPGA design including: customization of interfaces, field upgradeability, ability to incorporate other board logic, and a path for additional cost reduction.

Ethernity Networks’ Access Flow Processor™ technology is based on a field proven wire-speed pipeline architecture offering 2 to 20 Gbps throughput. Ethernity delivers its 2 and 5 Gbps solutions on low cost Altera Cyclone II 50/70 FPGA and Ethernity delivers its 20 Gbps solution on Altera’s Stratix 2 platform.

Ethernity Networks’ ENET3000 family is available in versions offering 2 Gbps to 5 Gbps deterministic throughput. It supports line cards for Multi-service platforms including 96-port dual latency non-blocking ADSL2+, non-blocking 32-port 100/100 VDSL2, Multi-port Fast Ethernet, Gigabit Ethernet, and Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH).
