SAN DIEGO -- Just a few months after Entropic Communications celebrated a major milestone with the shipment of its one-millionth c.LINK-270-TM chipset, it has shipped its two millionth chipset. Even more remarkable is that this number was achieved in less than two years of production.

"The market for digital entertainment networks is ramping at an accelerated pace," said Patrick Henry, CEO of Entropic Communications. "Two million chipsets is the best indicator of market adoption and the inherent advantages we offer our customers."

c.LINK operates at a higher frequency (860 Mhz and above) avoiding the inevitable interference issues that plague other technologies, mediums and consumer electronic devices already in use. This inherent design benefit along with the high performance, QoS, low power and ability to receive uninterrupted video over the most dilapidated of coaxial cabling in the home, enables c.LINK to serve two distinct markets-home networking and networking access.

As a result, a variety of products including set top boxes, broadband home routers and residential gateways and ONTs for instance, are now in deployment because of the seamless integration with any networking topology afforded by c.LINK technology.

2Wire, Actiontec, Foxconn, Linksys, Motorola, Mototech, Panasonic, Scientific Atlanta and Westell are all using c.LINK in their various home networking products. Alcatel, BnMUX, Hannet, Motorola, Oki and Tellabs and others are using c.LINK in various networking access applications and products. Verizon in the U.S. and J:COM in Japan are key service providers in full scale deployment, with other operators entering into early deployment and trial deployments.

"Two million units is without question representative of a full market ramp up and further evidence of the advantages of a coax-based, entertainment network," said Greg Fawson, President and Co-founder of S2 Data Corporation.

"Our wireless broadband router was a critical and ambitious project aimed at charting the course for the largest IPTV rollout in North America. We are delighted to have met the exacting demands of such a solution by leveraging the c.LINK chipset," said Gunjan Bhow, VP of marketing and product management at Actiontec Electronics.
