Comcast Picks Cedar Point for VoIP

In a coup, Cedar Point Communications announced today that it's been selected by Comcast Corp. as a primary vendor of voice over IP (VoIP) equipment. The multi-year deal calls for Comcast to extend its deployment of Cedar Point's integrated SAFARI C3 Media Switching System to multiple new phone markets. No other terms of the agreement were disclosed. Comcast has been testing Cedar Point's voice switching equipment in its VoIP field trials, along with gear from rival vendors. The nation's largest MSO, which trails other large MSOs in launching VoIP commercially, plans to roll out the service aggressively over the next two years.
