Telefonica Acquires Acens

Spanish giant buys SME-focused hosting-services provider

MADRID -- Telefónica today reached an agreement with Nazca Capital topurchase Acens Technologies, S.L., one of the leading hosting services providers for SMEs and self-employedprofessionals in the Spanish market and a pioneer in developing cloud computingsolutions.

The purchase of Acens will mean a significant increase in Telefónica's ability to offerhosting and cloud computing services in the SME segment, reaffirming its commitment to meetingthe needs and requirements of this highly dynamic segment.

For Guillermo Ansaldo, chairman of Telefónica España, "this acquisition will demonstrateour commitment to cloud computing and will improve our portfolio of services in the SMEsegment, complementing our value proposition with respect to the competitive environment".

Acens has been operating since 1997 and is currently present in Madrid, Barcelona,Valencia and Bilbao. It provides services for a client portfolio of more than 100,000 companiesthrough its two data centres (over 6,000m2) in Madrid and Barcelona and a highly-experienced andtechnically-skilled team of over 180 professionals.
