ConteXtream adds IP Video and mobile industry veteran Joel Brand as vice president of marketing

SANTA CLARA, Calif. -- ConteXtream, offering network operators grid networking solutions that radically transform and modernize their networks by virtualizing and globalizing service delivery, today announced it has expanded its executive team, adding industry veteran Joel Brand as vice president of marketing. Brand, previously vice president of product management and marketing at Bytemobile, has an extensive track record with companies at the forefront of enabling service providers to deliver the advanced content subscribers demand.
Both wireline and wireless service providers are facing soaring subscriber demand for real-time multimedia services placing unprecedented strain on their networks. Existing solutions are using a hodgepodge of legacy application delivery controllers, deep packet inspection (DPI) systems, proxies and other extensions to traditional routers that were originally designed to be autonomous, minimal processing nodes. These solutions marginalize the benefits of distributed TCP/IP networks by forcing traffic to flow through few centralized processing systems. The onslaught of video traffic necessitates a new solution.
ConteXtream's Service Delivery Grid (SDG) enables service providers to take advantage of cloud networking and virtual computing resources, optimally allocating them across a geographically distributed network that most efficiently handles peak usage patterns. Unlike existing solutions, the scalability, robustness and agility of ConteXtream's SDG, due to its distributed architecture, is ideally suited for the delivery of mass market video.
No stranger to the need for innovation to address this growing gap between subscriber demand and delivery solutions, Brand was instrumental in delivering to market Bytemobile's first of its kind video optimization solution, which was successfully deployed by large operators around the world, including T-Mobile and the Vodafone groups.
"With IP convergence in mobile, telco and cable, network operators are facing a market in flux and need innovative solutions that will enable them to deliver differentiated services to stay ahead of the competition," said Yaron Simler, CEO of ConteXtream. "As ConteXtream gains market traction, Joel's extensive background in marketing groundbreaking solutions to operators will help drive our success in serving operators need to equip their networks to handle next-generation content delivery."
"Operators have taken a largely piecemeal approach to enabling their networks to deliver the types of advanced applications and services their subscribers demand, but it's proven to be inadequate," said Joel Brand, VP marketing of ConteXtream. "I am excited to join ConteXtream, which has developed a holistic, distributed software based solution that delivers the benefits of localized hardware-based solutions at a fraction of the cost."
