Clearwire Gearing Up for Dallas & Seattle?
The firm has posted ads on Dallas/Fort-Worth Craigslist promoting an "invitational open house" today to find prospective candidates for sales jobs in the area. The ads say that Clearwire is "coming to Dallas" and the firm is "expanding aggressively."
This is the same kind of ad that Clearwire used to find candidates in Atlanta before its soft launch in the Georgia metropolis. The Kirkland, Wash.-based firm held open days in late March in Atlanta, started online sales in early May, and officially launched the service on June 16. (See Clearwire Hiring in Atlanta & Vegas and Clearwire Goes Live in Atlanta.)
In Seattle, meanwhile, Clearwire already has a fixed wireless service running, so a mobile WiMax launch would mark its first rollout of the next-gen technology in an established market.
New ads on the local Craigslist suggest that the operator is busily increasing its sales force at the moment, with open days for "entry-level field sales" and "outside sales representatives" in June and July. This is a similar tack to the one that Clearwire took before its soft launch in Las Vegas.
There aren't similar open days advertised for Charlotte, N.C, Chicago, Honolulu, or Philadelphia, the other markets where Clearwire plans to deploy in 2009. (See Clearwire Considering WiMax Polygamy .)
Officially, of course, Clearwire is saying that its next priority is full commercial launch in Vegas. Dallas and Seattle are both on the list of cities set for launch this year, but the company is offering no specifics yet.
