Claranet Defeats AOL
LONDON -- Claranet, one of Europe's most successful IT service providers, won the second annual ISPA Charity Cup on 27th October 2006.
The ISPA Charity Cup is a five-a-side football tournament for members of ISPA UK - the UK's leading Internet trade association. Fourteen teams battled it out for the coveted trophy, with all proceeds going to charity.
Claranet defeated defending champions AOL in a thrilling final. The game was goalless at fulltime and had to be decided by a penalty shoot out. Claranet held their nerve to win and claim the title.
The hero of the day was Claranet's keeper, Jason Keane the Business Operations Director, who saved four penalties and converted the crucial spot kick to spark wild celebrations.
Keane said, "We came so close last year, reaching the semi finals, so we were determined to go one better this year. It was a great effort by all the guys and marks another great achievement in our tenth year as a successful IT service provider."
