Cisco Ships 'FlipShare'

  • Though Cisco's core business is in routers, switches, and other Internet infrastructure hardware, the company is putting its recent acquisition of Pure Digital Technologies to work. Starting today, FlipShare software will ship with all of Pure Digital's Flip Video camcorders, allowing users to upload videos to FlipShare.com.

  • Many devices are competing to deliver Internet video to televisions, but gaming consoles have an edge over the others, according to new research from In-Stat. Nearly half of those who own an Internet-connected gaming console -- such as the PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360 -- view over-the-top movies on the TV.

  • After facing increasing competition from Facebook, MySpace reduced its U.S. headcount by 30 percent, in hopes of returning to a "startup culture."
