SANTA ROSA, Calif. -- Cierra Photonics, Inc., an emerging leader in wafer scale integration technology for fiber optic components, today announced the appointment of Bill Kastanis as vice president, engineering.

"Bill brings a strong engineering background to the Cierra team," Mike Scobey, Cierra Photonics' president and CTO, said. "His experience complements our strategic approach to high-yield manufacturing and low-cost production."

Before joining Cierra, Kastanis was a co-founder of SputterTek LLC, which was merged with Cierra earlier this year. He is a former business unit manager with Flex Products Inc. and a former vice president of technology with Sierra Applied Sciences, Inc. He also spent 12 years with Optical Coating Laboratory Inc. as a process engineer, project manager and product line manager.
