HONG KONG -- CIENA Corporation (Nasdaq: CIEN), a global provider of intelligent optical networking systems and software, today announced a sales agreement with Beijing IDN (CEC/IDN) at a signing ceremony at the Diaoyutai State Guest House in Beijing. CEC/IDN plans to deploy CIENA's industry-leading MultiWave CoreDirector(tm) and MetroDirector K2(tm) products, and has already placed purchase orders with CIENA. "Through this strategic agreement with CEC/IDN, CIENA is able to enter China with a great deal of local credibility," said Claude Achcar, CIENA's managing director, Asia Pacific.
