At the Mobile World Congress (MWC) Barcelona 2023, Dr. Xiaodong Xu, Chief Specialist of China Mobile, delivered a keynote speech titled "Accelerate 5G-Advanced Adoption" at the "To Infinity and Beyond with 5G-Advanced" conference session, which is a part of the 5G Futures Summit hosted by GSMA. Dr. Xu discussed the rapid growth in the 5G-Advanced industry. China Mobile will continue to focus on the in-depth convergence of the innovation and industry chains, streamline more key links, and strengthen its innovation engine, to accelerate the sustainable business success of 5G-Advanced.

Accelerate 5G-Advanced Innovation and Improve Network Capabilities to Meet Diversified Industry Requirements
Dr. Xu stated that China Mobile has built the world's largest and most advanced 5G SA network. In the toC market, as HD videos and XR services scale up, hotspot traffic is predicted to reach 50–100 GB by 2025 and 250 GB by 2030. Stronger network capabilities are required to ensure service experience. In the toB market, while 5G drives further industry transformation, industry applications will have higher requirements on 5G in terms of ubiquitous networks, ubiquitous computing power, and ubiquitous capabilities. Therefore, industry collaboration is urgently needed to gather momentum and push 5G evolution.
In 2021, China Mobile and the industry jointly released the 5G-Advanced 'Innovation Chain–Industry Chain' Convergence Action Plan, proposing the development goals of outstanding performance, native intelligence, and high energy efficiency, and ten major technologies, including X-Layer, e-IoT, harmonized communication and sensing (HCS), and green energy. 5G-Advanced will improve network capabilities by 10 times compared with 5G. This will help facilitate new scenarios and services, such as immersive XR services and autonomous driving.
In June 2022, China Mobile released the 5G-Advanced New Capabilities and Industry Development White Paper. This white paper focuses on 10 core technologies and describes 5G-Advanced technologies from multiple dimensions, including industry requirements, technical challenges, key solutions, and industry promotion.
At the end of 2022, joined by over 60 industry partners, China Mobile Research Institute released the 5G-Advanced 'Innovation Chain–Industry Chain' Convergence Action Plan Yearbook. This yearbook describes 78 of the latest innovations of China Mobile and industry partners in ten key 5G-Advanced technologies. These innovations include:

Gather Momentum for Future Business Success of 5G-Advanced
5G-Advanced is becoming a reality faster than ever. Dr. Xu said that China Mobile will continue to innovate 5G-Advanced deployment in terms of top-level design, technical research, standard formulation, industry promotion, and application innovation. Specifically, using the original technology base of next-generation mobile communications, China Mobile will work to achieve technological breakthroughs and formulate standards for 5G-Advanced. Furthermore, based on the convergence action plan for innovation and industry chains, China Mobile will establish an industry innovation base to promote application-level system verification of key technologies.
China Mobile will work with industry partners to promote unified global 5G- Advanced standards, accelerate the efficient application of innovation chain achievements in the industry chain, and drive a positive cycle between the innovation chain and industry chain.
