Chef Has Left the Building

LUNCHTIME -- The Associated Press, via AOL, reports that "Isaac Hayes has quit 'South Park,' where he voices Chef, saying he can no longer stomach its take on religion." He "says he has become uncomfortable with the way 'South Park' satirizes religion and other beliefs."

Hmmm... What could be the problem here? The Christian bashing? Jew bashing? Muslim bashing? Maybe the unflattering portrayal of Satan?

No. Hot Buttered Soul Man seemed to be down with all that.

What ever could it be...?

re: Chef Has Left the Building You know I tried one of those Scientology E-Meter things when a group of us went to Boy's Town in Acuna (Town on the Mexico side of Del Rio, Tx).

I got the crap shocked outta me! I don't know what them scientology dudes are smoking...

Old Scientology proverb: People who live in grass castles shouldn't stow throwns.

Maybe they could get Professor B-woogie to take over as Chef.

Matt Stone got it all wrong, Scientology has nothing to do with Faith. :-)

His religious beliefs, anyway.

Will be fun to see how the show handles it. Will this be the end of Chef? Will he join the cult? Get a sex change? A race change?

Stay, as they say, tuned.

Although Hayes has not pointed to one particular episode, it would seem that the jokes about Scientology G the legendary soul starGs religion G are what caused him to quit, as stated by South ParkGs co-creator Matt Stone. "This is 100 percent having to do with his faith of Scientology," said Stone.

"He has no problem - and he's cashed plenty of cheques - with our show making fun of Christians."

I guess the new episodes slamming of Scientology were much worse that the episode with Stan as the reincarnation of L. Ron Hubbard and Tom Cruise stuck in the closet... But I can't imagine how... I bust a gut on that one.

I guess in Acuna the E-meter is not required to have the FDA warning label!

The US version, the FDA and Federal court rulings claim it to be "harmless" (I guess if you use it only for entertainment purposes!).

In general for myself, I try to avoid grabbing conductive electrodes in both hands simultaneously: but I guess that goes back to my 8th grade electrical shop class. I also still try to remember not to feed wood in the wrong side of a table saw. And they say you can't get a decent education at school.

Maybe Chef will be reincarnated as a psychologist who dispenses Ridalin to Kenny to help him avoid getting killed again.

Pulling the Hubbard Reincarnation episode for two tribute episodes for Chef...

Sure would make perfect sense to one who believes one has been cleansed of Thetans by proper use of an E-meter.
