CDN Guide

NOON -- Due to weak second-quarter results and third-quarter forecast,Limelight Networks Inc. (Nasdaq: LLNW) has lost about half of its market value in the past week, after sprinting out of the gate with its IPO last month. Shares of CDN (content delivery network) leader Akamai Technologies Inc. (Nasdaq: AKAM) have also dropped more than 25 percent since it announced its second-quarter results.

So what's going on? Despite disappointing results among the incumbents, analysts say the CDN market remains fundamentally strong, as most expect the segment to grow into a multibillion-dollar business in coming years.

That has caused a lot of new competition to emerge, as companies battle it out for share in the expanding market. While analysts believe there is more than enough business to go around, competition from new entrants is causing some pricing pressure and taking at least some business away from the incumbents in the space.

With all this in mind, Contentinople has assembled its CDN guide to profile all the major players in the content delivery business, as well as where they're positioned, how they're differentiated, and which customers already trust them with their businesses.

In the market for a content delivery network? Check it out and see what your options are and how the different players are rated among their peers. Already have a CDN provider? Check it out and rate your provider(s). Either way, check it out.
