SAN JOSE, Calif. -- Caspian, the leading provider of multimedia traffic control solutions for IP and multi-protocol label switching (MPLS) networks, today announced that Asia Pacific Online (APOL), a leading Internet service provider (ISP) in Taiwan, has deployed Caspian Media Controllers to enforce multimedia peering service level agreements (SLAs) and improve IP multimedia service performance.

As one of the top three ISPs in Taiwan, Asia Pacific Online is focused on integrating advanced IP technologies with state-of-the-art fiber to deliver high-quality Triple Play services—voice, data and video—to residential and corporate users, and selected Caspian to provide improved quality to the peering fabric in its network using Caspian’s IP QoS flow control. Optimized for carrier-class multi-gigabit applications, the Caspian Media Controller functions like “traffic metering lights” in peering networks—identifying, controlling, and balancing IP multimedia traffic flows. Caspian’s unique traffic management capabilities are particularly useful for ensuring the highest quality experience for the largest number of users, eliminating situations where a few offending users monopolize bandwidth and affect the quality of experience for the majority.

With Caspian, Asia Pacific Online can now provide its subscribers with fair and predictable service quality and responsiveness, while at the same time, regain any unused bandwidth for new service creation, according to Brad Wurtz, Caspian president and chief executive officer.“Asia Pacific Online recognizes the importance of building a predictable and reliable IP infrastructure that meets its customers’ increased demand for high quality, bandwidth-intensive multimedia applications.” said Wurtz. “With the addition of Caspian Media Controllers, Asia Pacific Online can instantly make a difference to the quality of its content, with a cost-effective framework for equalizing, prioritizing and monetizing IP multimedia traffic.”
