Zurich, Switzerland -- Carrier1 International S.A. (Neuer Markt: CJN; NASDAQ: CONE), a leading European provider of end-to-end Internet, bandwidth, data center and access solutions, has announced that it has signed an agreement with the City of Milan for the construction of a 100-kilometer-long, high-capacity fiber city network.

The network – its first 56-kilometer stretch should be completed within one year – will enable the interconnection between the major data centers, carriers and access nodes to the Milan network, thus allowing Carrier1 to drastically reduce connection costs for the “last mile” and to improve delivery to customers.

This project for the city of Milan follows the recent start of construction works for a 120-kilometer-long network in Amsterdam and the announcement of the start of the installation of a 32-kilometer ring in Paris. With these foundations in place, Carrier1 aims to satisfy the growing need for high-speed applications that currently characterizes the European market.
