SUNNYVALE, Calif. -- PLUMgrid, Inc., the leader in virtual networking for OpenStack clouds, today announced industry veteran Larry Lang has been named chief executive officer, effective immediately. Founder Awais Nemat has been appointed chairman of the board of directors and will continue to support the company’s growth in the rapidly expanding SDN/NFV market. He will work closely with Lang to ensure a seamless transition of leadership responsibilities.

Virtual networking is a crucial component of next-generation cloud data center transformation. Among startups in this space, PLUMgrid is well positioned with production-proven solutions that have been deployed in more than 70 clouds worldwide.

Lang has held executive positions including president and CEO of Quorum Labs, vice president and general manager of the mobile internet business unit at Cisco Systems, and vice president of product management at Ipsilon Networks, now part of Nokia. His board service includes Violin Memory and previously BelAir Networks, now part of Ericsson.

Nemat, who founded PLUMgrid four years ago and served as CEO, has been appointed the strategic role of board chairman and will continue to foster and support the growth of PLUMgrid.
