Leading Lights Finalists: Most Innovative SDN Deployment (Network/Data Center Operator)

Applications taking advantage or the network include high performance computing, NFV, general networking, and networking research. The network pushed over 65 petabytes of data in November 2014.

SDN powers the Equinix Inc. (Nasdaq: EQIX) Cloud Exchange (ECX), which allows individual enterprises in 19 markets worldwide to connect to multiple Cloud Service Providers (CSPs) using a single port. Enterprises can directly connect to ECX by co-locating in Equinix's data centers, or connect via a network service provider. ECX currently provides Layer 2 services and is rolling out Layer 3 and Layer 4-7 services.

ECX allows enterprises to manage differing performance, security, and availability service level agreements from multiple CSPs, as well as their varying connectivity requirements. Equinix's customers save costs and provisioning time, receive service assurance benefits, get global market reach, improved performance, and security.

Layer 2 Cloud Exchange is now available and used in in 19 markets. One Layer 3 service and one Layer 4-7 -- a NAT service -- are now in beta release, with other Layer 4-7 services under development.

The Leading Lights 2015 winners and newest class of Hall of Fame inductees will be unveiled at the Leading Lights awards dinner, which will be held the evening of Monday, June 8, at Chicago's Field Museum.
