SHENZHENK, China -- Huawei recently launched nine innovative Software-defined Networking (SDN) and Network Functions Virtualization (NFV) solutions at the Open Networking Summit 2015 held in Silicon Valley, USA. The solutions, which focus on innovative agile networks, open northbound, and cloud-based infrastructure, reflect Huawei’s active role in standardizing SDN/NFV, and commitment to advancing the use of enterprise-to-enterprise SDN/NFV technology on telecom networks.

At the summit, Huawei presented three innovative agile network solutions enabling fast and flexible operator services, namely the Flow Engine 2.0; ONOS-based IP+optical synergy; and open source on-demand bandwidth adjustment for optical transport networks. Used for batch service provisioning and system-wide optimization on IP+optical synergy networks, the new carrier-class SDN Flow Engine 2.0 is an innovative algorithm powered solution able to improve resource utilization by between 40-100%.

In the field of open northbound interface innovations, Huawei released four new solutions including the Open Network Hypervisor; NEMO, a user-oriented, next-generation SDN programming language solution; an Open Source TSDN controller which supports various service APPs; and an IP+optical synergy for multi-vendor SDN controllers based on third-party orchestrators. The new virtual network solution, Open Network Hypervisor, employs an innovative network slice technology which supports operators by quickly adding or changing virtual networks of any topology for users, enabling users to maintain their virtual networks through third-party SDN controllers.

Huawei also launched two new cloud-based infrastructure products. The first, developed in partnership with China Unicom, is the agile VPN solution, L3VPN, which uses standard northbound and southbound APIs provided by an ONOS-based SDN controller platform to support VPN site additions or deletion, on-demand bandwidth adjustment and fast deployment. The second, the ONOS-based Central Office solution, provides L3VPNs using vCPE+ONOS, with services provided by the NetMatrix orchestrator.
