Cyan Wins Government Deal In South Korea

PETALUMA, Calif. -- Cyan (NYSE: CYNI), a leading provider of software-defined networking (SDN) and packet-optical solutions for network operators, today announced that its Blue Planet SDN Platform and Z-Series packet-optical hardware have been selected by the Jeollanam-Do province in South Korea. Deployed together with partner Telefield, the new network will deliver e-government applications in support of the two million citizens living in the province.

“We are pleased that Jeollanam-Do province recognized our competitive advantage and chose to work with Cyan and Telefield for their new Ethernet network,” said In-Soo Kim, director of sales, Telefield. “Our partnership with Cyan provides the province a unique value proposition in terms of overall functionality, service and support, and price.”

The Jeollanam-Do province is located in southwest South Korea and covers 22 cities and a population of two million people. Cyan and Telefield were selected as the exclusive SDN and packet-optical solution provider for the provincial government’s Carrier Ethernet network transformation project. Applications delivered by the network upgrade include Internet, VoIP and video conferencing.
