SANTA CLARA, Calif. -- Versa Networks today announced that it has been deployed by Tata Communications as the software-defined WAN (SD-WAN) vendor for one of the variants of its new managed SD-WAN offering, the IZO SDWAN Select service.

Leveraging Versa's comprehensive suite of virtual network and security functions (VNFs), the IZO SDWAN Select service is a purely software-based SD-WAN that provides its customers with a managed service that brings them greater business agility through application level visibility, control and integrated security. It utilizes Versa's multi-tenant SD-WAN solution in its 20 cloud gateways globally. At customers' branch offices, Tata Communications deploys Versa multi-tenant SD-WAN software on non-proprietary x86 appliances to enable integrated network and security, with instant scalability -- much more effectively than using separate hardware appliances.

Tata Communications has developed multiple variants of IZO SDWAN to suit its customers' different business and technology requirements. These variants consist of its own patent-pending technology (IZO SDWAN Prime), and one that builds on technology supplied by Versa (IZO SDWAN Select). Underpinned by Tata Communications' global network, IZO ecosystem and partnerships with the world's biggest cloud companies, the recently launched IZO SDWAN enables the instant deployment of branch office networks anywhere in the world, therefore helping organizations to expand and introduce new products and services faster, and adapt to rapidly changing market conditions.

"Tata Communications has an unparalleled vision for how a cloud-enabled platform can drive business growth and agility," said Kelly Ahuja, CEO of Versa Networks. "The company is using exactly that vision to evolve wide-area networks with the cloud-first model in the IZO SDWAN Select service, and Versa is very excited to join them in bringing the benefits of a cloud-native and software-defined WAN to their broad set of global customers."

"We have a long-term strategy for enabling our customers to drive their digital transformation through the cloud and unleash the growth potential that new markets and geographies can bring," said Hon Kit Lam, VP of managed networks and IP Services for Tata Communications. "In one of our IZO SDWAN variants, Select, we've partnered with Versa Networks because of the company's flexible NFV-based approach and deep set of security capabilities, which help us offer more options for our customers for a rich and enterprise-grade approach to a hybrid and cloud-ready WAN."
