DALLAS -- SD-WAN Strategies for Success -- Light Reading hosted a half-day power conference in Dallas last week to examine strategies and best practices for success in the SD-WAN market.

The software-defined WAN (SD-WAN) market has grown rapidly this year as more service providers are seeking to deliver SD-WAN solutions to enterprise customers who want more visibility, increased security and flexibility over their cloud services and broadband networks.

Click below for a short slide show of the scenes and speakers from the half-day event.

Heavy Reading analysts and event participants examined the effect of SD-WAN on the MPLS business, hybridization of the network, approaches to security and more as they discussed their approach to navigating the growing SD-WAN market.

A theme throughout the event was the notion that SD-WAN isn't replacing MPLS. Keynote speaker Sunil Khandekar, founder and CEO of Nuage Networks, said that the industry's focus should be on seamlessly melding MPLS and SD-WAN -- connecting the old and the new for business continuity.

"Having an SD-WAN solution that does both -- that has thought through how to support the brownfield and has thought through the business continuity, not only for the service providers but most importantly for their customers the enterprises, is critically important," said Khandekar.

A CSP's digital transformation involves so much more than technology. Crucial – and often most challenging – is the cultural transformation that goes along with it. As Sigma's Chief Technology Officer, Catherine Michel has extensive experience with technology as she leads the company's entire product portfolio and strategy. But she's also no stranger to merging technology and culture, having taken a company — Tribold — from inception to acquisition (by Sigma in 2013), and she continues to advise service providers on how to drive their own transformations. This impressive female leader and vocal advocate for other women in the industry will join Women in Comms for a live radio show to discuss all things digital transformation, including the cultural transformation that goes along with it.
