David Smith, from PSINet, named vice president and general manager of network services

FAIRFAX, Va. -- Cambrian Communications, a wholesale broadband metropolitan area network (MAN) provider, today announced the appointment of David Smith as vice president and general manager of network services. Smith will report to William A. Opet, president of network services. Smith will spearhead sales, marketing, product, business development, and relationship management of Cambrian's reseller, ISP, and value added distribution services. In addition, he will lead the sales engineering program, managing customer requirements for commercial network service, and collaborating with engineering and operations teams. "David's record speaks for itself," said Opet. "His knowledge, management expertise, and sales savvy will help Cambrian leverage its wholesale gigabit Ethernet, virtual wavelength, private line, and collocation services." Smith comes to Cambrian from PSINet Inc., where he helped build the Carrier and ISP wholesale program from inception into a $60 million business unit serving more than 200 resellers of Internet network services.
