CableLabs Certifies 2nd DSG Set-Top Box

Another five devices passed muster in CableLabs' latest product testing round, including only the second digital cable set-top box equipped with an embedded cable modem and DOCSIS Set-Top Gateway (DGG) functionality to gain such approval. The Pace Micro Technology set-top gained DOCSIS 2.0 certification during Certification Wave (CW) #38, which concluded late last week. Pace's TDC775D set-top thus joins Scientific-Atlanta's Explorer 8300 box, which won DSG certification with an embedded DOCSIS 1.0 modem late last year during CW #32. An Arris embedded multimedia terminal adapter (e-MTA) and a cable modem from Alpha Technologies also earned DOCSIS 2.0 certification during the latest testing round, the sixth of eight waves that will be staged this year. At the same time, a Linksys residential gateway gained CableHome 1.1 certification and a Tollgrade modem earned DOCSIS 1.1 certification. Another product testing round, which started in late August, will wrap up late next month.
