CableLabs Approves Four More Products

In a quiet equipment testing round, CableLabs approved four more cable tech devices last month, including two voice modems, one cable modem termination system (CMTS) and one cable modem. Wrapping up Certification Wave (CW) #42 in late April, CableLabs gave the thumbs-up to just the fourth embedded multimedia terminal adapter (E-MTA) under its most recent PacketCable 1.5 specification, now known as Release 1.5. A voice modem from Cisco-Linksys took the honors, joining earlier E-MTAs from Thomson, Netgear and Terayon. The Cisco-Linksys E-MTA also made the cut under the consortium's PacketCable 1.0 (now Release 1.0), DOCSIS 1.1 and DOCSIS 2.0 standards. The other certified E-MTA, manufactured by Tollgrade, passed the grade under the PacketCable 1.0 (now Release 1.0), DOCSIS 1.1 and DOCSIS 2.0 specs. In other action, CableLabs approved a CMTS from Motorola under its DOCSIS 1.1 and DOCSIS 2.0 standards and a cable modem from Tollgrade under the same two DOCSIS specs.
