SUNNYVALE, Calif. and ISTANBUL -- Operators currently have solid insights into the broadband quality being delivered to the curb, but that visibility quickly disappears within the home Wi-Fi network itself. Today, AirTies Wireless Networks, a leading international provider of premium in-home wireless systems, unveiled Remote View, version 1.0, a new in-home Wi-Fi performance monitoring system for operators, which will be showcased at the 2016 INTX: The Internet & Television Expo.

Using AirTies' intelligent Wi-Fi access points (APs), this new cloud-based system will provide engineering and field support teams with insights into key Wi-Fi performance data across both managed and unmanaged devices, such as laptops, tablets, smartphones, smart home devices, and more. Operators will be able to view a visual Wi-Fi map of a subscriber’s home network; examine which devices are connected to which AP; whether those devices connected at 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz; check signal strength and speeds between APs; and more.

"Broadband operators are at an important crossroad when it comes to ensuring the quality of the in-home experience," said Philippe Alcaras, CEO of AirTies Wireless Networks. "For many operators, the top customer care calls are Wi-Fi related. Yet, operators are in the difficult position of having almost no visibility into the true network conditions throughout a subscriber's home -- particularly on unmanaged devices. AirTies Remote View is designed to provide new tools for operators to enhance service quality through the use of real-time and historical performance data."

Applications and Capabilities

AirTies Remove View, version 1.0, is currently available for operator field trials, with additional capabilities anticipated for later this year. The system consists of multiple software applications initially designed to support field support and network engineering teams' ability to optimize and troubleshoot subscribers' home Wi-Fi networks. It enables operators to identify Wi-Fi installation issues, determine if coverage problems exist, and whether additional APs are required in a home. The system provides key performance data on both individual homes and aggregate data across numerous households.

The AirTies Network Visualizer provides a visual map of the in-home Wi-Fi network that shows real-time quality and speed conditions across APs, via an iPad app for field technicians. The AirTies Remote View dashboard provides real-time and historical data on active Wi-Fi connections, traffic and throughput. Operators can examine connection rates of wireless APs and third party devices; the distribution of 802.11g, 802.11n or 802.11ac clients; the speed capability and distribution of client brands (i.e. phone or tablet models) in use within the home; band connection durations of all clients; 5 GHz vs. 2.4 GHz connection rates and client steering occurrences; air-time consumption; and more. Data from the Remote View dashboard can be viewed in any browser.

Since all data is provided by AirTies' intelligent in-home network of APs, there is no need to download any client-side software on subscribers' personal devices. In addition, the system only provides data and analysis of in-home network connections, and does not monitor browser-level data about site visits. By default, the software requires subscribers to grant permission to enable monitoring capabilities within their homes.

AirTies noted that Remote View is currently in trials by operators across North America, Europe and Asia. The software is available as part of the new AirTies Serenity solution, which includes bundled packs of AirTies intelligent AP devices and software.
