RICHARDSON, Texas -- White Rock Networks has launched the industry's lowest cost, OC-48 SONET-based Optical Access platform - the VLX2006(TM)- for the delivery of both native DS1/DS3 and FastE/GbE services in a carrier-class, environmentally hardened package.

The first OC-48 ADM under $10K, the VLX2006 is also the first to offer fully protected Ethernet ports for the transport of business-critical traffic. The unique Ethernet protection allows carriers to offer data and video transport with the same carrier-class reliability that has always been expected of traditional TDM traffic.

The VLX2006 can remotely "right size" GbE access pipes as well as provide full Layer 2 Ethernet switching. Each GbE fiber interface can support subscribed customer rates from 512 Kbps to 1 Gbps allowing the carrier to sell end-customers just the amount of bandwidth they need today. But as their customers' bandwidth needs increase, the carriers can increase the subscribed data rate without ever making a site visit, resulting in a significant increase in profitability over today's manual solutions.

"Ethernet is not only a key service for business customers but has become business critical for many of them. However, current fiber-based delivery solutions are too expensive and do not offer the same degree of reliability that is commonplace with legacy TDM services," said Lonnie Martin, Founder and CEO of White Rock. "The VLX2006 integrates truly carrier-class, fully protected Ethernet transport and switching as well as providing native support for legacy DS1 and DS3 service delivery in a single low-cost package. This allows facilities-based carriers to offer more services at a lower cost over their fiber networks, improving their ROI and bottom line results."
