ALPHARETTA, Ga. -- Wave7 Optics today announced the latest deployment of its Last Mile Link (LML) fiber optic access solution, with Chariton Valley Telecom Corporation and Chariton Valley Telephone Corporation of Missouri. Chariton Valley Telecom has begun installation of the LML in Macon, Mo., where it will operate as a CLEC (competitive local exchange carrier). Over the course of the next 12 to 18 months, 3500 homes and businesses in that area will be connected to the industry’s most-advanced voice, data, and video broadband system. Chariton Valley Telephone an ILEC, (incumbent local exchange carrier) intends to expand its network and deploy LML to approximately 900 subscribers located in its service areas in Bevier, Callao, New Cambria and Bucklin sometime in 2004 and to approximately 2000 subscribers located in Huntsville and Salisbury in the 2005 timeframe. “With this deployment we will have the most advanced network in the state – Macon will be the first to have a complete fiber-to-the-home network, with our Bevier, Callao, New Cambria and Bucklin exchanges to follow closely behind following our master plans to implement network upgrades” said Bill Biere, General Manager of Chariton Valley. “Wave7 has the technology and experience we are looking for and their network architecture offers several cost and technological advantages, compared to other broadband systems.
