PARIS and MEXICO CITY -- Thomson (Euronext 18453; NYSE; TMS) has opened a Latin American competence center in Mexico City for its network software business. Thomson's network software comprises Cirpack voice and SmartVision video service platforms for telecom and cable operators as well as Internet service providers and broadcasters. The new regional offices, under the direction of Hatim Zougari, Latin America Regional Sales Manager of Thomson’s network software, will offer full administration, sales and support services, with its own training facilities.

Operators in Central and South America need to increase the capacity of their existing infrastructures and Thomson’s voice platform is fully interoperable with both legacy (TDM) and IP networks. Thomson can also help providers to easily add new services such as Fixed-Mobile Convergence and Mobile TV, to give them a competitive advantage.

Jean-Pierre Dumolard, General Manager of Thomson’s network software activity, explained “With the demand for fixed line telephony exceeding supply, and the commencement of unbundling legislation, Latin America has become an important market for Thomson’s VoIP and Triple play solutions. The advance we have already gained in on this promising market is confirmed by the opening of our new offices in Mexico City and our strong regional experience.”
