World Cup Fever

1:35 PM -- World Cup fever is leaving Light Reading's European team all hot and sweaty, especially now that our special collection of video interviews, in which we asked all sorts of industry folk about their predictions for the South Africa-based tournament, has hit the Web. (See 2010 World Cup Predictions.)

But wait -- there's more!!

As well as canvassing the opinion of Ericsson AB (Nasdaq: ERIC) CEO Hans Vestberg, we asked Ben Verwaayen, CEO of Alcatel-Lucent (NYSE: ALU) (and an avid soccer fan), to rub his sporting crystal ball.

(And before any of the AlcaLu investor team has a cardiac arrest, don't worry -- we asked him for his outlook when the company wasn't in a "quiet period.")

Check out Verwaayen's view right here.

re: World Cup Fever

The Netherlands are in the World Cup final for the first time in 32 years after beating Uruguay last night. That's gotta make Ben V. happy.

So what are the chances he'll be in Johannesberg to watch the final on Sunday?

Watch the interview again to see who he favors to win.
