Swisscom to relocate Betty TV business operations to Germany

BERN, Switzerland -- On 30 November 2007, Betty TV (Schweiz) AG will hand over the operation of Betty TV in Switzerland to Betty TV (Deutschland) AG. A social plan is in place for the 35 employees based in Switzerland. Swisscom is currently looking into different strategic options for Betty TV - the relocation of its business operations to Germany is an initial concrete measure for optimising the business.

As already communicated by Swisscom when it published its half-year results for 2007, Betty TV's business performance has been below expectations. For this reason, the operation of the Swiss business is being transferred to Germany. A social plan has been agreed with the unions for the 35 employees of Betty TV (Schweiz) AG. Betty TV (Deutschland) AG will be able to integrate the care of Swiss customers into its existing organisation, which means that existing customers will be able to continue using the Betty TV service. Swisscom is examining a variety of strategic options for Betty TV (Deutschland) AG.

Betty TV is the interactive remote control service! which enables viewers to play an active part in selected live broadcasts. Betty TV (Schweiz) AG was established on 1 July 2006. The relocation of the operation of Betty TV (Schweiz) AG is not connected in any way to Swisscom's other TV activities.
